The 1975: Interview

2013 has been good to the 1975: they have released waves of new material, toured extensively and garnered positive critical recognition for their leading pop anthems "Sex" and "Chocolate." An hour before taking the stage at the Casbah in San Diego, I spoke with lead singer Matthew Healy about the band's transition from ambitious Manchester musicians to international stars on the rise.

The Local Legends: Queens Will Review

"In the span of ten tracks, the quartet reveals classic rock influences from Eric Clapton to Pearl Jam, maneuvers the double-edged sword of maintaining a raw sound and weaves a few catchy riffs and choruses in for good measure."

The Dash - "3 Times More"

"In their latest single "3 Times More," it is clear that the Dash have remained steadfast in their loyalty to preserving a raw and untempered sound similar to that of their live performances. Clocking in at just under three minutes, "3 Times More" is an interesting throwback to the punk rock sound of the 1970s and '80s that channels hints of the Clash, MC5 and even the Ramones."

Robert Randolph & The Family Band: Lickety Split Review

"Through all of the styles present on Lickety Split, funk and gospel reign as the two leading sources of inspiration for Robert Randolph & the Family Band. The album's first single "Born Again" serves as a perfect example: featuring the voices of a full choir steeped in the dueling tempos of Robert Randolph's guitar and Morgan's bass, "Born Again" is evidence of a funk, gospel and jam band all rolled into one."

The 1975 - "Chocolate"

"One of the 1975's most exciting features is their ability to alternate between indie pop music and experimental waves of reverb and electronic feedback. "Chocolate" was included as one of five new songs on the 1975's Music for Cars EP, released earlier this year, and while the song exists as a pure pop single, it is surrounded on the EP by songs that show the band striving to push the boundaries of sound."
