"For a full weekend, some of the best in blues congregate for sets lasting an hour or longer on three stages, attracting thousands of attendees each year and just as many lawn chairs. From the crowds of excited people and lanes of food, beverage and trinket vendors to the constant live music and welcoming community atmosphere, Doheny put together a memorable event for its 16th anniversary."

Great Northern: "Bonnie & Clyde"

"The quiet male/female utterances of Serge Gainsbourg and featured singer Brigitte Bardot are mimicked by Great Northern's Rachel Stolte and Solon Bixler above the same hiccuping gasp that gives the entire song an eerie vibe."

The Amends Explore Musical Possibilities on Sophomore Album

"Garage rock as a genre has witnessed extensive transformation since its inception a half-century ago. From the rebellious lyrics of MC5 to the speed and attitude of the Ramones to popular music's most recent reincarnation in the music of the Black Keys, garage rock has dipped its toes into a multitude of other genres as decades of musical trends and styles have come and gone."

Deap Vally: Get Deap! EP Review

"Don't let the Mumford & Sons connection fool you - unlike their folksy tour buddies, Deap Vally's Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards are more Joan Jett than Joan Baez. Packing the power of a modern Led Zeppelin with the shock value of a musical Thelma and Louise (both noted band influences), Deap Vally stand at the helm of a sound and style that can be somewhat polarizing at first listen, if only because they prefer music with a live feel over any sanded-down alternatives."

The three-time 2012 Blues Music Awards nominee returns this spring with Can You Stand the Heat, a project that signals Popovic's search for an edgier sound with an instrumental range that went largely unexplored on previous recordings."
