After years of extensive touring, writing and recording, Ivan & Alyosha have finally released their debut album All the Times We Had. Like their Dualtone label mates the Lumineers, this folk-pop quartet from Seattle delivers stripped-down numbers that feel very natural and organic (though they do plug in and take advantage of the occasional studio effect from time to time). The album’s first single “Running for Cover” is a perfect example of the group’s carefully-honed sound: featuring a memorable acoustic riff that softly builds with support from multi-part vocal harmonies, band members Tim Wilson, Ryan Carbary, Tim Kim and Pete Wilson orchestrate an uplifting piece that precisely mirrors the sound today’s folk fans are clamoring for.

Those already familiar with Ivan & Alyosha will recognize “Easy to Love” from the band’s 2009 debut EP The Verse, the Chorus, released two years after the group’s inception, and “Fathers Be Kind” from their second EP of the same name. With a list of tracks sure to be as popular with fans and new listeners alike, All the Times We Had is an important step forward for Ivan & Alyosha, securing them a position among today’s best in folk.
